Garrison House

Overlooking the flowing Hudson River, this stately home was restored to its original elegance. The house had sustained several additions over many years and, at one point had been an Inn and restaurant. Returning the house to its original size, and reorienting its rooms back toward the river, was a process of careful subtraction rather than addition. The living areas on the ground floor now flow together, each room benefiting from the extraordinary view out toward the water. The materials and furnishings were chosen with attention to the varied light which transforms the spaces over the course of the day.
